In 1996, the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) was formed by the Government of Maharashtra, for the regulation and development of maritime activities in the State. The Port Policy was also formulated in the same year and the proposals for development of ports in the State were taken up under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) route.

Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) has signed a Concession Agreement to Build, Own, Operate, Share and Transfer an All weather, Deep water Port at Rewas. As per the provisions of the Concession Agreement (CA), the project is to be developed by a Special Purpose Vehicle.

Rewas Ports Limited is the SPV to execute the project.

The key promoters in the project are Reliance Logistics & Ports Pvt. Ltd. (RLPPL), Jai Corp Ltd. (JCL) and Amma Lines Ltd (ALL).
