Container Terminal
The container terminal will have adequate number of Rail Mounted Quay Cranes (RMQCs) with flexibility of moving the quay cranes to the adjacent berths so that 2 to 5 cranes can be deployed on a ship, depending upon its size. These cranes will have lifting capacity and front outreach for handling 9000 TEUs vessels. The handling in the Container Yard will be with the Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) while the Rail Container Depot will have Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMGCs). Likewise, for movement of containers between quay, container yard and rail yard adequate number of Internal Transport Vehicles (ITVs) are proposed.
Coal Terminal
The handling at the Coal Terminal will be with a fully mechanized coal handling system. The system would comprise of Rail mounted gantry type Grab Unloaders with single stream of conveyor under the grab unloader up to the stackyard along with Stacker cum reclaimer units in the stackyard.
Wagon loader for loading of rail bound cargo has been proposed. The Truck loading system shall be provided with storage bin and 2 loading spouts.
Cement Berth
The cement is imported through coastal movement in small ships ranging from 3,000 DWT to 20,000 DWT. These ships are self unloading type and discharge the cement to the hopper provided at the middle of the berthing jetty from where it is taken to the silos by means of closed conveyors. Alternatively the cement can also be transported by means of pipeline connected directly to the ship’s manifold.
Liquid Berth
Liquid terminal is planned to handle POL products and chemicals. The POL products will be received in large vessels, will be unloaded at berth using the marine unloading arms and transferred to the tank farms by means of pipeline. Marine unloading arms one exclusively for white oils and black oils and two for chemicals have been proposed.
