The Rewas Port Project, located south of Karanja Fishing Harbour in Dharamtar Creek, on the Rewas Headland on the West Coast of Maharashtra, has been conceptualized as a mega-port with world class facilities and networks, both at the water front as well as on the land side. The initial phase of development is planned over the intertidal land and Government land which is being allotted by the Government of Maharashtra. The project proposes to create facilities relating to port, logistics, shipping, export and import based businesses, inter-modal connectivity, warehousing as well as storage within a single enclave making the zone self-sufficient as a modern commercial port and industrial centre. |
It also proposes to arrange supporting infrastructure facilities like power transmission and distribution network, telecommunication network, water supply network, as well as road/railway corridor connecting the port to major centres.
The project will be developed in phases as the traffic builds up. The initial phase is planned on the 1033 ha of intertidal and Govt land with 9 berths to cater container, dry and liquid bulk, General cargo and automobiles. The expansion under Phase II envisages addition of 16 berths with an addition of marginal land. In the ultimate phase of development over the Master plan horizon, the traffic potential exist for development of about 70 berths.
The planning for the Phase I development is complete and necessary approvals have been obtained for commencement of the project. The Phase I and Phase II comprises of development of berths and facilities as under –
