Amma Lines Limited (ALL)

Amma Lines Limited was incorporated in 1982. Inspired by the vision of Mr. B. Hanumantha Rao, a pioneer in Civil construction works in South India, Amma Lines was founded by Dr. Meka Vijay Paparao, an alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, and a Nuclear Scientist from the United States. The company was incorporated in Mumbai. Its repertoire ranges from the construction and development of Ports, Harbours and Jetties, to barging, dredging, coal transportation and shipping in the marine world, to construction of roads and bridges on land. Amma Lines discovered the feasibility of building a port at Rewas, in the Mumbai Harbour region. With availability of 20 metres of draft, it warranted the building of another port in the region.

In 2002, the Government of Maharashtra, through the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) signed the new B.O.O.S.T. (Build-Own-Operate-Share-Transfer) Concession Agreement with Amma Lines to develop Rewas and Aware into an All-weather Multi-purpose Deep-draft Port.

Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB)

Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) came into existence in 1996, with a vision to be recognised as a world class port system and maritime infrastructure provider, a favoured choice for shipping and water-front activities.

Maharashtra Maritime Board is the nodal agency that takes care of the regulatory and developmental framework of the state's maritime activities. Over the years, the board has taken a number of initiatives to harness the potential of its coastline. These include development of the marine front including setting up of several cargo jetties, ferry wharfs, larger port terminals, inland water transport system, shipyards etc. MMB activities across the state are supported by five regional offices.
